Pictorial| Gold Glitter Smokey Eye

This eye look has quite a few steps to it and requires a few different brushes and multiple eye shadows. Of course, you don't have to use the exact products or techniques that I show you- do what works best for you! But whatever you do, remember that the keys to this eye look are blending and patience!

Before beginning make sure your eye lids are primed!

I suggest using matte shadows for this entire look.
You want to glitter to be the main focus!

  • Take a light brown shadow on a fluffy brush and run it along your crease. Don't worry about being to precise- this is just going to act as a transition color to make blending easier.

  • Take a deep brown on a denser crease brush and focus the color into the crease. Don't bring the color too high or too low. Work back and forth in windshield wiper motions. Make sure the majority of this color is being put in the outer corner.

  •  Take a black shadow on a pencil or fine eyeliner brush and very precisely put it into the crease. Don't put too much of a black shadow all at once! They can be very tricky to blend- work in layers to make it easier on yourself.

  •  Take the same dense crease brush and the same dark brown shadow and carefully blend out the black. Using another eyeshadow to blend makes everything easier. This step is the most tedious- take your time and be patient!

  •  Take the fluffy brush and a TINY bit of the light brown and blend out any harsh edges. Don't over blend- you still want the crease to look very defined.

  •  Take a cream shadow (I wanted to use one that was darker than the glitter) and apply that to the first two-thirds of the eyelid.

  • Before the cream shadow has a chance to set, apply your glitter! I used a liquid liner that contained glitter because I've found it to be the easiest and most mess-free method. Like I said earlier about the black eyeshadow- WORK IN LAYERS! Apply one thin layer and wait for it to dry, then add another. Keep going until you think you've got enough glitter on.

  • Take the fluffy brush in the dark brown shadow and very lightly blend the crease and apply some of this shadow to the outer corner.

  •  Take a clean blending brush and blend out the very top of the eyeshadow.

  • Take a matte highlight color and apply that you your brown bone.

  •  Take a cotton swab with a little bit of makeup remover and make a clean line on the outer edge of your eye. I totally forgot to do this- but I suggest laying down a piece of tape before you even apply any shadow. It makes everything easier. But, if you forget like I did, this is always an option. Then, take a piece of tape (I used a little sticky tab because I couldn't find tape- sorry) and line it up with the end of the eye shadow.

  •  Apply your favorite eyeliner. You don't have to use this tab if you can apply your eyeliner well enough. I prefer to make a wing with this look, but you don't have to!

  • Take the dark brown shadow and run it along the outer third of the lower lash line.

  •  Generously apply your favorite mascara, finish up your face, fill in your eyebrows and you're done!

I recommend a strong highlighted and contoured face and a stronger brow than you usually would do. And, of course, false eyelashes. I would have used some, but I don't have any on hand!

Keep in mind: this entire look is much darker in person.
